Perch is the word

A good number of walleye perch were caught off the Capitola wharf yesterday, and the whale sightings continue.  Point of interest: there was a report of a huge ball of bait about 15 miles out of Moss Landing.  Huge in this case being “many square miles”, and it’s starting to look like maybe we’re starting to get some warmer water in the area.  With a little luck we’ll have some live bait in our new bait receiver soon.  Floating dock should be down sometime this week or next.  Stay tuned!

Barracuda!!

p4040206.jpg
Baracuda were caught out off the mile reef using blue and silver swim baits casting on boiling bait and bird action. Barracuda can be caught on almost any shiny lure (megabaits, castmasters, crocodiles) - the key is looking for the bird action.

Improved weather pages

We’ve improved the weather page somewhat — well - it’s not one page anymore.  Now under the Weather menu item you’ll see there are separate items for Monterey Bay marine weather, the tide forecast in both graphic and tabular form, and a new page for sea  temperature and chlorophyll charts that are updated as often as hourly from the NOAA data feeds.  We’ll probably be adding one or two others in the next few days.  Anyway:
