Rock cod is the rule of the day

Larry and Lings
Several Capitola rental boats came in today with some nice rock cod. These fish were caught on both dead and live bait. Live bait is scattered throughout the immediate area – sardines mostly. Also, some nice ling cod came in off south rock in Santa Cruz – 8 and 12 pounders, and Kurtis landed 5 nice (7-9 pound) lings over by Natural Bridges. He also farmed probably 10 or so.В  Kurtis also had two shaker halibut and one legal one in 6 1/2 feet just off the Capitola wharf.

Sardines everywhere

Kurtis was out this morning and reports that there are sardines from the Capitola reef all the way to the cement ship and he was able to jig up 5 at a time pretty regularly. They are big ones – 7 – 9 inches.

Tuna On The Move

* WPG2 CANNOT LOCATE GALLERY2 ITEM ID 10186 * Bocci said today that he heard a boat on the radio – research boat – that got into some nice tuna about 130 miles out in the big warm spot you see out and just south of Monterey Bay in this chart. There’s definitely some warm stuff moving up/in. Still pretty far, but fingers crossed. We have sea surface temperature charts if you want to keep an eye on it.
