Capitola: A beautiful day

It was fantastic weather here today all day long. There was the usual morning fog, but once that burned off it was just phenomenal.

Still a bit slow fishing - we had all our boats out, but only saw a few rock cod here and there. Looks like we’re still recovering from that overabundance of bait and the effects of the swell that’s been around for a few days.

The highliner here today was Jake - he landed this 23 inch flattie using a green and orange fish trap just outside the eastern kelp bed. Congratulations Jake!

Despite the lack of fish, most people had a really great time on the water today because the weather was so nice. Looks like tomorrow is going to be similar weather wise and the southern swell appears to be settling down a lot - just an occasional 2 footer now and then. Here’s hoping the fishing picks up a bit.
