Santa Cruz: Persistence and timing pay off

posted at 7:57 PM in Fishing Reports |
Kurtis and nice catch
If you put in your time and are patient and persistent, with the change of the tide the fish begin to bite. Kurtis caught four halibut in the 17 to 22 pound range and a thresher today, all caught using live sardines and jack smelt. Shawn managed to scratch up a 18 pounder as well.

On the radio, we heard of a few fish being caught from natural bridges to Capitola in 45 to 60 feet of water.

On the bait side, there are scattered balls of sardines from Soquel point to the lighthouse in 30-45 feet of water. It’s jiggable, but you’ll need some patience.

I think it’s three (I’m not Ed - just the web site guy), but Kurtis is commercial so count limits don’t apply.
