Capitola: Zzzzzzzzzzzz…..

Dan and thresher and flattie
Continuing yesterday’s theme:

Dan got these two - an 11 pound halibut and an 18 pound thresher shark - off Capitola reef using live sardines. Dan was by far the highliner today, because from all the boats that went out today (and there were only 2 rentals and 4 private launches), we saw one (1) blue rock cod come in along with one story about some pretty active humpbacks from Rio Del Mar to Soquel point in 40-70 feet of water. Sheriff Larry (aka Captain Patience) went all up and down the coast looking for something, and ended up flying the skunk flag. He said the water was dirty everywhere.

There are still lots of sardines scattered all over the place. It was a bit chilly in the morning again, but again it got very warm. Again here in the bay inside of Pleasure Point it was great - up the coast it was still a bit windy.

All in all - still pretty slow. It seems that patience is the key.

Capitola: Hmm - interesting

Ryan and wife and daughter and halibut
Ryan reeled in and released this undersized flattie off the end of the wharf this afternoon on a live anchovy. Interesting, because yesterday we saw something similar on a frozen anchovy and a rusty hook around the same time of day in the same area.
