Santa Cruz: Something!!

Josh and halibut
Here’s Josh with one of his two flatties for today - 7 and 19 pounds! He caught one off the point and one in front of the harbor using jigged live sardines. Bait was a bit hard to find, but obviously worth it. He also let go a short one that he caught off the Capitola reef. He said he had to cut it short as the northwest winds came up pretty hard and messed up the seas, else he’d have fished longer.

The water is *super* clear now - Rich said he could see the bottom at his mooring in Capitola, and Josh said it was amazing all the way up. The swell is still here, but it’s been coming down as forecast. If the forecast holds true, it’ll be down more tomorrow and then may come back a bit Saturday. We’ll see. Josh’s fish are definitely a welcome sign though.
