Capitola: Making lemonade from lemons — only with huge fish!
posted at 3:46 PM in Fishing Reports |
| Antonette and her friend cashed in on the “one big fish per boat” trend today with this 27 pound thresher shark! They caught it fishing dead anchovies in 50 feet of water off New Brighton. There was all kinds of unusual drama associated with the catch: Ed had gone out to help them start the motor, but when he arrived they were fully engaged with fighting this fish. Ed coached them through it - they fought it for a total of 30 minutes, and they finally got it into the boat with a gaff. Turns out the problem with the motor was just that they weren’t pulling hard enough. Hehe - fate works in mysterious ways sometimes. The rest of the day was slow but enjoyable for them - the caught a few odds and ends - an octopus, a mackerel, and a perch. Beautiful fish Antonette! |
