| Well well well well well well - lookee what we have here! Sheriff Larry finally(!) got a fish worthy of his attention! This one is a healthy 21 pounds and he caught it in front of the harbor using live sardines on a halibut rig in about 40-50 feet of water. Dan got 2 in the same area, and Josh lost a hog. Congratulations Larry!
It was a really nice day in Capitola - lots of perch and mackerel off the wharf (and just as Ed was leaving he saw a legal halibut come in). The last two nights just before dark people have been hooking up on big stripers, and someone hooked a 20 pound salmon that ended up getting tangled on a piling. The Capitola rental situation was not much to brag about - most boats caught two or three rock cod with highliners getting 6. Nobody came in unhappy however, so that’s a plus. Lots more sardines outside the marina in the morning down deep. As it got lighter the bait started coming up and popping in about 30-35 feet of water. |

| Conor from Los Gatos came fishing with his dad Aengus, rented one of SCBR’s yellow boats. They had no luck until on there way back in. Conner caught 2 Jack smelt approxmately 12 inches. The Jack Smelts are at the end of Santa Cruz Wharf. They are using Sabiki jigs Size 6 and 8. His father Aengus caught a threaser shark about 5 foot long. Unfortunately when he had it up to the boat it got away. Conner and his dad had a great day, it was Conners first fish. Great job Conner!! |

| Nice size Octopus caught in the bay. You don’t see this to often. You never know what you are going to catch in a little yellow boat! |

| Kayak Jim tapped into the O’Neil’s vein just now and came back with this nice flattie. He was fishing in about 35 feet of water using a hair raiser. He said he also hooked up on (but lost) a white seabass. |
