Santa Cruz: Sheriff Larry allows us to photograph him!
* WPG2 CANNOT LOCATE GALLERY2 ITEM ID 80329 * | Well well well well well well – lookee what we have here! Sheriff Larry finally(!) got a fish worthy of his attention! This one is a healthy 21 pounds and he caught it in front of the harbor using live sardines on a halibut rig in about 40-50 feet of water. Dan got 2 in the same area, and Josh lost a hog. Congratulations Larry!
It was a really nice day in Capitola – lots of perch and mackerel off the wharf (and just as Ed was leaving he saw a legal halibut come in). The last two nights just before dark people have been hooking up on big stripers, and someone hooked a 20 pound salmon that ended up getting tangled on a piling. The Capitola rental situation was not much to brag about – most boats caught two or three rock cod with highliners getting 6. Nobody came in unhappy however, so that’s a plus. Lots more sardines outside the marina in the morning down deep. As it got lighter the bait started coming up and popping in about 30-35 feet of water. |
