Capitola: Nothing from JoJo today, or we would be picking on him like crazy

* WPG2 CANNOT LOCATE GALLERY2 ITEM ID 83001 * Dave got this legal ling cod once again using live sardines on a halibut rig. He and his buddy also released some very slightly short halibut that they caught out by the mile reef. Our highliners however were three folks in another rental who came in with just a bit more than one limit of rock cod between them. They were fishing the mile reef with rock cod jigs and squid strips. All the fish were browns, most were pretty decent sized.

The Monkster brought in a legal halibut that he caught using a live sardine off the mile reef. It was really just legal, and he didn’t feel like giving it too much credit with a photo. But – dinner is dinner (yum yum).

On the wharf today, there were still lots of kids having lots of fun catching baitfish all over the place today. They were catching perch, walleyes, shiners, mackerel, and the occasional sardine. Really very active wharf fishing despite the ground swell that’s been moving in.

Bait wise, sardines are still plentiful out in the middle of the marina, and some pinhead anchovies can be be had (if you want them) in the shallows. It’s the middle of summer – really the heart of the fishing season now, so pretty much there’s going to be something being caught somewhere all the time.
