Capitola: Ed done blew that skunk up!!

* WPG2 CANNOT LOCATE GALLERY2 ITEM ID 95630 * Well, it’s taken all season. We’ve been waiting for these big lunkers to show up – and check it out, Ed found ‘em. Ed caught this 31 pounder off Soquel point using a live mackerel on a halibut rig. It bit on it 20 feet down, and Ed had a nice battle for at least 20 minutes! Unfortunately the rental that was near him when he caught this was not so lucky – darn darn, but Ed will be out again tomorrow so we’ll see what the fates have in store then.

Else, nothing. Only two boats out, one skunk, and one caught a single mini-seabass (a kingfish). Both boats were targeting rock cod, kinda looks like now is not the time for that.

On the wharf, some sardines, jacksmelt, and mackerel, mostly toward the south end.

Weather wise, it was cool and overcast in the morning, became sunny for a while more or less just directly over our wharf, and now it’s back to overcast. Temps were in the 60s and lower 70s all day.
