Capitola: Nevermind……

Well – we thought we had a nice picture of Marc and a barracuda, but the picture is incomplete so we can’t post it. Anyway the deal is that barracuda have moved in down toward Monterey and are sort of replacing seabass there. Reports of multiple hookups are not hard to come by.

Closer to home, it’s been super super slow with the rentals – only two this week. Our intrepid Katie went out in her boat Ses Serpent and finally got her skunk off with a couple of nice rock cod. She caught them just outside the yellow buoy off Soquel point using squid on on a halibut rig. Congratulations Katie!

Wednesday morning a large school of large seabass were spotted off New Brighton (no catches reported), and Ed saw a humpback whale yesterday just off the cement ship. In general there’s been a lot of bait around in the form of sardines, along with a lot of red tide.

People have been catching sardines off the wharf more in the evening lately than any other time of the day – but they have in fact been catching them.
