Capitola: Halibut seem to have the munchies

Mike and flatties
Mike caught these flatties down by New Brighton beach near the kelp bed. One bit on a live sardine, the other on a green fluke with a leadhead. Nice – especially considering that he didn’t really get started ’til about 11:00am or so.

Sardines came in around wharf this afternoon – 8-10 inches!

Capitola: Cabewoah!

Miguel and big cabezon
Here’s Miguel with the cabezon he just caught using a swim bait out over the kelp bed to the east of the wharf. This is one cow of a cabezon – around 22 inches and 6 pounds!

Wharf wise – we heard of no stripers last night. Today we’ve not seen anything yet. If history is a guide perch will pick up sometime later this afternoon. There are some sardines out and about in the marina – nothing close though. Swell is up a bit, so we’re not expecting any psychedelic action.

Another beautiful day on the water here yadda yadda yadda.
