Capitola: Well hello southern stranger

Jim and calico bass
This is Jim. He caught a calico bass here today – and by all accounts it’s a pretty nice one too! It weighed in at 6 pounds. This is all a bit of a surprise as we normally do not see calico bass around here – they normally hang out in southern California where (we hear) they have whole tournaments based on the catching of these things. So – cool beans Jim and congratulations!

He caught it with a live sardine on a halibut rig fishing around the old sponge bob buoy. He also (in the same area) caught two very nice halibut, one of which bit on a sardine on a halibut rig, and the other which bit on a white swim bait. We’re going to just put the picture of those fish right into the gallery so go there to see them.
