Capitola: Ed is still begging for the cookie he is not going to get

Rich Dave Efrum and halibut and cabezon
Rich, Dave, and Efrum also visited Sponge Bob’s old haunt and rustled up a couple of very nice fish. The halibut is about 26 inches and the cabezon is about 20. They were using live sardines on halibut rigs. They were especially happy today as they didn’t have reservations and happened to stop in when we had some early cancellations. To the considerate party who left a phone message cancelling their reservation, we extend our thanks!

We had the whole fleet out today and then some, and only saw one skunk boat!! Every boat caught at least two rock cod, and again we saw seven halibut come in.

We had a *LOT* of bait in here this morning – sardines – big’ns. They were both in the marina and just outside of it – no problem at all fishing up full stringers.

We saw nothing off the wharf today with the exception of a nice starry flounder right behind the restaurant. He didn’t want to pose for it so we have no pic, but he caught it on shrimp bits on a wharf setup.

Weather tomorrow is supposed to be similar to today’s – which means it’ll be warm-ish with occasional fog moving in. There is some suggestion that we’ll start seeing a bit of a SW swell – let us hope that’s more rumor than truth cuz it usually does unfavorable things to catching. But we’ll see – it’s weather of course.

Santa Cruz: Ed bad. No get cookie.

Friend of Brad and two lingcod
This is “Friend of Brad who’s name we embarrasingly do not remember because *ED* forgot to write it down” and the two lingcod he caught today. One is 25 inches and the other is 26, he caught these fishing the Santa Cruz main reef using live sardines on halibut rigs. FOBWNWEDNRBEFTWID said they bit between 8:00 and 9:00 this morning – well before the wind came up (which was around noon).

We are enumerating various punishments for Ed at this very moment.

Capitola: Yoko sets the pace

Yoko and halibut
We saw seven flatties today – Yoko’s here is one of them. She caught this 26 incher using a live sardine in the old Sponge Bob area and it bit this morning some time. Happy dining, Yoko!
