Capitola: Darn Glenn actually does not like halibut fishing at all

Darn Glenn and halibut
Too boring!

Except when you catch one, which in fact happened for him today. He caught this 12 pounder off Soquel point using a live sardine on a halibut rig. He was out fishing with his boy Josh in about 50 feet of water – this fish bit about 9:00 this morning.

They were going to go hunt down some salmon, but they ran into what everyone else ran into today: it got gustay!! That did not stop the action though.

We had all our boats out today (yay) with only one sightseeing. Of those who were fishing, we saw somewhere in the neighborhood of five skunks. Of the catchers, Aside from Glenn we saw one boat come in with a legal lingcod, and the rest had one or two rock cod of various sizes.

The wharf saw one skate come up on the end, some some perch and kingfish. ZzzzZZzzz

Most people had trouble rounding up some bait today. Fish finders showed plenty of kingfish about, and those have been pretty effective with the halibut. So for the moment they’re really your best bet bait wise.
