Capitola: One Boat, One Fish

Capitola: Jim
Jim was the only private boat that went out for Salmon today. The swell was pretty big on the outside, but he was able to get this one fish trolling the west side of Soquel Hole, 293 ft of water, 75 ft under, using a red HotSpot behind a Purple Haze Kajiki. Jim had a hard time fighting the jellyfish, and it sounded like everyone else was having the same problem. Ed only heard of about eight fish on the radio…

The bite has dropped off since earlier in the week and it sounds like most of the fish have moved toward Pigeon’s Point. But, there is another school of fish off of Cypress Point that look to be moving up our way!

We had six rentals out today, most of them catching Rockfish which had to be released. But you know that Darn Glen was out there today and he said that he had caught and released 30 Rock Cod (one brown that looked to be about six pounds,) and six Ling Cod. He was trying for Halibut, but saw no Halibut bites.

Capitola: Sporadic Bite

Capitola: Shawn
It wasn’t easy for Josh and Shawn today (or the rest of the boats). They started out where they got their easy, quick limits yesterday. Even though all the bait signs were there, there were no fish biting. They ended up going up to the 10 line, and nothing there either. They went back to 50/06 at about 1:30pm where they finally picked up four nice fish, 80-130 on the wire. Pretty nice chrome fish Shawn!

Capitola: This is the lattes I’ve ever seen Larry come in.

Capitola: Larry & Myron
Although condition’s were nice it was not easy for most boats to catch a fish today. Larry started at 50-06 trolled all the way up to the 10 line and not a fish. It wasn’t tell he got back to 52-54 and 120 on the wire using blue kajakie and purple haze did catch these four nice fish.

Capitola: Two nice limits.

Capitola: Larry & Terry
Larry caught his fish trolling between 50-05 and 50-06 30 to 50 on the wire. I seen a lot of boat hook up on the 06 line and I heard of boats catching all the way up to the 09 line. with a few boats doing well mooching. I had three fish on and lost all three.

Capitola: Larry biggest yet!

Capitola: Larry
Only one limit for Larry and his son. They were trolling the west side of the hole, 280 feet of water, 47 and 70 on the wire. The bigger fish 21 pounds was at 70. Another rough day on the water. Ed from Zelda’s tried to go on one of our skiff, he made it out to 90 feet and turned around.

Capitola: A little nicer on the outside not so nice on the inside.

Capitola: .
Jake caught his limit 300 hundred feet of water using a deep six diver with a rotary killer, 80 pull. One of My boats just came in and they lost a big Salmon right next to the boat. They were trolling a half mile out past the SC-3 buoy his buddy got sea sick and that was the end of there day.

Capitola: Beautiful Day For a Boat Ride!

Capitola: Kayla and Kendra
It was a beautiful day out on the water today and Kayla and Kendra took advantage of it!

The weather seemed to bring everyone out of the house today and we had waiting lists for both boat and kayak rentals throughout the day.

Also, just a heads up, our boat reservations are full for tomorrow. If you come down there’s still a chance someone will cancel or not show up, but we just wanted to give everyone fair warning!

Capitola: Larry Leo and Don Were the Only Private Boats to Come In With Limits Today

Capitola: .
And they were the only ones that actually came in with Salmon!

It was a very busy day down here and Ed didn’t get a chance to ask the when or how about these guys.

General consensus: It was rough on the outside today. As far as rental boats go, some Ling Cod and Rock Cod were caught and released but it even so it was a gorgeous day out on the water! (In Capitola, close to shore at least…)

Capitola: First Rental to Come In with a Salmon

Capitola: Kerri
…four miles past the limit.

But still inside the fleet. Kerri was using a two pound ball with a silver spoon, 45 pulls. It was good that they had enough sense to come in before the wind came up. Bad, Bad Kerri, not following Ed’s rules–we’ll forgive you this time! But still, good job out there today!

Capitola: Getting A Little Bigger

Capitola: Larry
Like everyone else today, Larry was out on the west side of the Soquel Hole when he picked up these two. He said that they were caught 77 feet under, with a purple haze Kajiki behind a red Hot Spot. Terry was camera shy today but out with Larry and got his two fish as well. They said it was a little rough out there this morning, with what looked like nine foot rolls.

Overall some of the boats were having a harder time with some of the fish being caught deeper, we heard of some fish as far down as 150-180 feet.

Phil was fishing the west side of the Soquel Hole as well. He caught these 50-60 under the water, using a white and blue Hootchie.

Capitola: Andres and John
John and Andres came in with three nice fish. They were fishing the west side of Soquel Hole, 280 feet of water, using a white hootchie behind a red Hot Spot and a watermelon Apex. They were picking these fish up under 60-70 feet of water.

Capitola: Rock Cod closed? Salmon out too far?

Capitola: Miguel and Seabass
Well, we’re in luck! Looks like there’s life out off the SC3 buoy once again!

Miguel just came in with this 30″ White Seabass he caught using squid, 30 ft down on a Halibut rig. Way to go Miguel! He’s on fire this year!
