HAPPY NEW BOAT BUCKS!!

Capitola Boat Bucks

Here they are folks, hot off the presses!  Aside from the usual cosmetic changes, we’ve made the bucks good for the entire year.  We’re continuing with the “two kinds of bucks” theme, but again: it does not matter which  version of boat bucks you bring with you - both kinds are good at either store.

Capitola: Autoposter is fixed

The autoposter application is working again, so we’re more likely now to post actual fishing reports should the need arise.

Capitola: Salmon Gear - 30% Off!!

img_0120
Our fearless leader lost his marbles yesterday and proclaimed that “The Salmon Gear Must Go!” - so now’s your chance folks!  If the rumors are correct (and oh man are we crossing our fingers) you’ll be needing some of this stuff next year.

The rack of stuff you see in the photo here is at the Capitola store - come on down and get yours.  Who knows when Frank will get back on the meds - hurry!

A Journey of a Thousand Miles…

…begins with a single step.

In this case that step consists of adding all the photos that weren’t included in the backup being once again indexed in the gallery (yay).  They are however indexed with new gallery id numbers, so the three hundred and seven files-to-be-properly-indexed issue remains.  If you look carefully though, you should find your summer+fall photos in the gallery now.

The next part will *definitely* take “a while”.

[edit]

Also of note:  the post automation software that we’d been using to date has been adversely affected by the upgrade; for the moment you’ll find that posts-with-pictures in the way you’re used to seeing them will be a bit sparse.  This should be somewhat ameliorated by the fact that it’s winter and there aren’t a lot of folks out fishing for anything anyway, but - just so y’know.

Stenographer considers change of career

The stenographer has conceded that a flogging is too good for him.

Obviously the problems stemming from the hard disk crash weren’t as easy to fix as they initially appeared. The jist of it is that the gallery side of the backup was a complete mess and 2/3rds useless. We got back all the gallery numbering up to the end of last June - all the numbering past that is gone. We do have the photos - I’ll be injecting those back into their galleries as time permits. But as we lost the numbering, we can only associate those pictures with fishing report entries on an item-by-item basis.  It will take a lot of time. The stenographer extends his most humble apologies. Repairs will progress at a faster pace now that the gallery issues are under control.

[edit] For the record, there we lost 307 gallery entries starting on 6/21/2009 - sigh.

Capitola: Wharf closure coming up soon

The Capitola Wharf is going to be closed for repairs starting next week Wednesday, October 21st.  If everything goes as planned, it will re-open on the 1st of November.  However, weather and of course cans of worms can interfere with the best laid plans of mice and men, so be sure to call us beforehand if you’re planning for something early in November.  We’ll update the site as best we can as this thing progresses.

Wee Doggies

While the stenographer ne webmaster is willing to concede that we may well have had short gusts in excess of 50 knots (possibly well in excess), he’s not willing to say that we’ve had sustained 100mph winds.  Methinks the anemometer just bit the big one.

Capitola: Plenty of boats available

One last note - as of this moment we have 18 (out of 20) boats available tomorrow.  So the odds of your being able to rent a boat tomorrow morning without a reservation are very very good.  And of course you can call ahead in the morning to be sure.

FREE-EST FISHING DAY EVER!!!

We apologize again for our tardiness, but better late than never:

Tomorrow September 7th 2009 is a free fishing day and a boat bucks day! The fishing derby is only for wharf fishing (so you can’t combine the two), but you can certainly do one after the other if you want (derby in the morning, get a boat in the afternoon).

If you happen to be in the area, this is a *great* opportunity to try out ocean fishing or introduce friends and family to your favorite past time.  We have lots of boats available for tomorrow so it’s likely that you can just drop on in and rent a boat. If you want to be sure however, call ahead and make a reservation.

Have you ever noticed how time goes faster as you get older?  Cuz the stenographer is so there dude.  He forgot to post the Begonia Festival Fishing Derby entry.  He is remedying this only now at this very late hour:

This Monday September 7th, the City of Capitola and Redtree Properties will be hosting the annual Begonia Festival Fishing Derby on the wharf here.  This all ages event starts at 6:00 am and final tallying begins at 11:00 am.  There will be prizes for all age brackets including some cool stuff from Capitola Boat and Bait.  Registration is free, so come on down with the kids and jig up some fun!

1st July 2009

July 4th is a Free Fishing day!

For those of you who might not have heard, this Saturday July 4th is a Free Fishing Day - no fishing license is required to fish from a boat or beach all day that day!  If you’ve always wanted to give fishing a try, this Saturday is definitely a good day for that.  Call and reserve a boat soon - they’ll likely go fast!

Note: fishing from the wharf is *always* free to children and adults alike.  There’s an exception to the fish licensing rules that applies to public wharves on the coast.   If you just want to fish from the wharf, you never need a license.

Oops - a bug

Sorry folks - I had the Boccie Boy Bait troller all set up but I neglected to actually activate it, so today’s report is quite tardy.  For the record - he has bait! Large sardines.
